Peter van Merksteijn jr. started rallying in 2006 and during his first full year driving the Mitsubishi Evo IX he won the Dutch championship group N. In 2008 he made a step up and switched to the Ford Focus WRC 06 with which the young Dutch driver took second place in the Tank S Rally and the Euregio Rally and was best Dutch driver in the WRC Deutschland Rally.
In 2009, Peter jr. has driven the Ford Focus WRC 06 in the two rounds of the World Rally Championship of Norway and Portugal. Peter jnr. will take part in the Dutch Rally Championship with the Ford Focus WRC 08 together with his regular navigator Eddy Chevaillier.
