Peter van Merksteijn junior started his rally career in 2006 driving a Renault Megane. Halfway through the season of 2007 Peter junior was paired with co-driver Eddy Chevaillier and has been driving with him ever since. In that year the young talented driver contested Dutch Rally championship and won the group N title during his first year in the sport driving a Mitsubishi Evo IX.
Peter van Merksteijn junior made his debut in the World rally Championship during the Rallye Deutschland in 2007 with the group N Mitsubishi Evo IX and competed in 5 WRC rallies with this car. Behind the wheel of a WRC rally car the young Dutchman has competed in 5 more WRC events during the last 3 years with a best result of 17th position in the 2008 Rallye Deutschland and the 2010 Swedish rally.
