Dakar 2009
Van Merksteijn Motorsport has taken part with driver Peter van Merksteijn and navigator Eddy Chevaillier in the Dakar 2009 which was held from 3rd of Januari until 17th of Januari in Argentina and Chili. Peter van Merksteijn was part of the official BMW factory team X-Raid and started in Buenos Aires with a BMW X3CC equipped with all the latest specifications. Unfortunately, the Dakar debut of Peter was shortlived as towards the end of the 5th day of the rally the BMW X3CC caught fire and went up in flames.
René Kuipers and the Portugues co-driver Filipe Palmeiro finished this very tough Dakar Rally in an outstanding 18th position and finished with the BMW X3CC as best Dutch contestant.
